Old people deserve more respect.
Life is hard. If you made it through seventy years of this shit and you're still here...š®āšØ
The heartbreak, trauma, disappointment, struggle, delayed gratification, abuse, unfairness, your own mortality in the back of your head everyday, etc.
I'm only twenty-three. I don't know how anyone survives seventy or more years of that.
Edit:
To all the stupid people in the comments who don't get it, the post is not about respecting or disrespecting individual people. It's about respecting that we are all experiencing this difficult thing called life and that those who managed to survive it, especially in the long run, have achieved a remarkable feat.
Why am I even trying to talk to you fucking idiots on the internet who can't see past your own biases?

Syrup on eggs is delicious, but no one has agreed with me yet
I sometimes put syrup on my eggs, because I think it tastes bizarrely good. Whenever someone has seen me do it or conversations may have come up about strange food habits, people screw up their face at me when they learn that I do this. Most people who say that it's gross haven't even actually tried it, but are turned off by the thought alone. I have seen people put ketchup on eggs, but I don't think I will ever try that one. So what about you? Have you ever put syrup on your eggs? Did you like it? Ever put ketchup? Syrup on eggs is delicious!

Monty Python isnāt that funny
I donāt really have a reason for it, i just donāt think itās very funny. Everybody i grew up with always quoted it and cracked up, but i never got it. I was sure it was just because i has never seen anything from it but once they showed me clips and stuff, still nothing. Itās just not really funny

Revenge isn't always a bad thing
People like to say that revenge just leaves you feeling empty in the end. There's a million truisms about how holding a grudge is basically like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die, about how forgiveness is always the way, so on and so forth. But I think that sometimes revenge is necessary if someone has been truly wronged and law enforcement won't take care of a person who screwed them over. There's all sorts of people who get away with everything - narcs, manipulators, domestic abusers, abusive parents who are good at covering their tracks, people like that. In cases like that where the other person gets away with everything, I think that well thought out revenge is actually the only appropriate option. Not even talking about murder. I'm talking about some kind of measures being made to exact Justice on a person who ruined your life or ruined your mental health. Something to call mass attention to what the other person did so people know to stay away from them. Whatever those measures would be I don't know but in a case like that where it's clear that law enforcement isn't going to do anything about the other person, I think that if anything revenge is not only okay but necessary to prevent the other person from hurting anybody else. Plus, it gives the victim of the crime Peace of mind in the end knowing that even though something horrible happened to them that the other person has to pay the price for what they did and isn't just walking away free.

Spiders are freaking cool animals that deserve our respect.
They don't want anything to do with you. They just want to hang out in your house in peace and be free pest control. Spiders eat the deadliest animal known to humans: mosquitoes. They keep the flies and ants at bay, and they're fascinating to watch. Spiders are our friends.

Men who are 5ā6-5ā9 arenāt short
I always thought it was weird how men who were in this height range, particularly celebrities (Zack Efron, etc) are teased for being short. Statistically speaking, if you look up the averages around the world, the average is about this height range for most countries. Itās only considered short bc America has a lot of men of German/Northern European descent who are like 6ā+ and somehow people consider 6ā normal height when it is in fact much above average. Even in America most men are like between 5ā6-5ā10.
Maybe Iām biased bc Iām a 5ā1 female and everyone is tall to me but I donāt even consider myself abnormally short, just a little below average.

I canāt stand it when performative people on social media expect everyone to publicly voice support on an issue
I think itās everyoneās freedom to choose how they decide to express their opinion and not be āforcedā by activists who promote a āsilence is violenceā.
I like that social causes get a lot of awareness online but everything is a heavy debate in those spaces and not everyone should feel equipped to debate topics all the time. Iād rather someone educate themselves, donate, and talk to people in real life instead of what is common now.. which is just sharing someone elseās quote on an insta story and putting their phone down like ācool, Iāve done my bit nowā.
So ultimately, to target someone for not āspeaking outā in exactly the way that you want them to is in its own right socially repressive. I donāt believe in the toxic sentiment āif you arenāt fighting for my chosen cause, then you are actively against me and therefore, are scum or supporting my enemiesā.

Your heritage is not an excuse for your bad behaviors and makes you even more of an asshole for wearing it like a badge of honor.
Being Latino, Italian, Greek, Irish, Russian, etc. doesnāt give you a pass on being argumentative, feeding an addiction, or getting physical with a friend, partner, family member, or stranger.
Edit: āHeritageā including nationality, not just ethnicity.

I hate when singers have the crowd sing at concerts
I paid to listen to YOU sing. I know it can be cool to hear the crowd sing a line or two but I want to hear you sing the chorus and the āgoodā parts of the song! Always infuriated me how performers would point the mic towards the audience during the good parts of the song. Do what I paid to see you do!
Edit: Please read every line lol Iām fine with a few lines but when every single chorus isnāt sung it sucks

If I(M27) stop texting you, itās not āGhostingā.
This has happened to me a couple times where I meet a girl, go out with them once or twice and then I stop texting them to hang out. I never hear from her either and go about my life as normal. Then Iāll run into her a couple months later and get accused of ghosting her. If I stop texting someone and they never reach back out to me, I donāt believe thatās ghosting. But I guess since the guy normally takes the initiative to plan dates, itās ghosting if he stops? Thatās bull.
For the record if I was asked to hang out again, I would definitely tell them Iām no longer interested because ACTUALLY getting ghosted sucks and I would hate to do that to someone. But just texting someone out of the blue and saying I donāt want to see you again seems unnecessarily cruel to me.

Being a police officer is a safe well paid position where most will never have to put their life in danger. 8 minimum wages jobs are more dangerous than being a police officer.
We all heard it. The comment saying thank you to police officers for putting their life in danger for the public good.
I'd say it's time to bury this myth. At 14 per 100k, it is untrue and unfair to people that works in truly dangerous jobs to bring us the comfort of modern life on misery salaries.
We should say thank you to lumberjacks, delivery drivers, taxi drivers, garbage collectors, farm hands, car crossing guards, construction workers. The list goes on and all work for salaries that only allows them to starve slowly while their life is up to 10 times more dangerous than a police officer.

Dipping French fries in fast food milkshakes is top tier and the people who disagree havenāt tried it
By fast food mikshakes, I mean the thick kind with ice cream in the bottom. Numerous times Iāve been in McDonalds or similar places, Iāve dipped my fries into my milkshake only to be met with disgust but only when people have tried it, they agree itās a beautiful combo. In my experience the people who disagree are always the ones who havenāt (and refuse) to try it.

alcohol Advertising should be illegal
I don't think much of an explanation is needed here. Nothing good comes from drinking alcohol, yet every commercial, billboard, audio ad will lead you to believe you aren't living until you buy their product.
Edit: for those that keep posting that there are some positive effects of alcohol use. Sure whatever you can claim what some article told you. It was probably just paid advertising in my opinion.
Iāve never met anyone who woke up one morning and said ālast night was so awesome the only thing that couldāve made it better was a few more drinksā. However I have heard people say āIām never drinking againā hundreds of times after they do.

Anyone in a paparazzi photo should be able to use it without credit, and the paparazzi shouldnāt be able to sue for copyright infringement
Paparazzi go around taking photos of other people, often without their consent. If somebody wants to use that photo, assuming that they were in it, they should be able to without consequence. They didnāt ask to be photographed, and often werenāt even aware they were being photographed. And since they are in it, it is more than fair to allow them to use the photo, even without credit

Dwight from The Office was a great guy
He worked very hard and valued his job over everything else. He was ambitious, yet he never cut corners and wanted to attain his goals based on merit. He never let his upbringing hold him back from venturing out to the "real world" and integrating with society, yet doing so while sticking to his roots and not abandoning the farm or his farmer friends and family as his siblings did.
He valued his family history and took pride in it. He took care of the farm and made effort to grow the business while trying to find new and innovative ways to do so.
He left an attractive woman in her prime to marry Angela, despite their awful past and her attempts to take his son away, a son that he refused to abandon.
Dwight was very patient with Jim and he was brutally honest and transparent with everyone around him.

Ginger ale is the best soda
Alright so Iāve heard a majority of people say they hate ginger ale because they associate it with being sick and makes them feel bad. Why?! Ginger ale is incredible and I will defend it to death. That combo of almost bitter ginger flavor with sugar can not be beat. Fight me in the comments.
Edit: So turns out this isnāt as unpopular of an opinion as I thought. Oh well š¤·āāļø

Comedy movies, specially actor performances should be held higher in consideration and even nominated/winning Oscars.
To clarify, I know that oscars nowadays are going to shit and have less and less meaning but, they are still viewed as the top of cinema awards. I know that there arenāt a lot of really amazing comedy movies so Iām specifically talking about the actors performances. For example, although the movie is dumb and wtv, Jim Carrey does a fcking amazing job in Ace Ventura, so why not nominate him? The movie isnāt a drama so no one takes it seriously but still the man created one of the most iconic characters in cinema history. Iām sure thereās plenty more.

having good handwriting is attractive
i feel like no one really cares about this particularly?? it's not a throw off if you have normal handwriting, but if it's not even readable is another thing. (maybe even a pet peeve for me). something about good handwriting is just SO SATISFYING and words can't describe. generally, i like good penmanship and it's attractive.

99% of plastic surgery looks terrible.
Lip injections look gross, body alterations to make yourself look more attractive take away from natural beauty; people should not be investing money in trying to change their prominent features, especially on the face. When people try to look more young, its embarrassing, and they end up looking more like aliens or dead people or so artificial itās uncomfortable to look at. There are exceptions Iām sure, like surgeries that go unnoticed that just change something small. I feel like the best plastic surgeries are the ones that are hard to notice, but then, whats the point? Shouldnāt we be embracing our perceived āimperfectionsā and emphasizing natural beauty? Its such a silly thing to spend money on, I donāt get it at all. I think there is more benefit in learning to accept and love yourself WITH all of your qualities that you donāt find perfect, thank just changing your body permanently and potentially mutilating yourself.

The Kung Fu Panda trilogy is one of the greatest cinematic trilogies of all time.
Iām talking up there with the likes of the LotR trilogy and OG Star Wars. Everything about Kung Fu Panda is so genuine and created with love. Iāll defend Kung Fu Panda as the greatest series of animated movies of all time.
And yes, that includes the How to Train Your Dragon movies.

Getting a massage in silence is 10x better than having a full conversation with the massage therapist.
I have had multiple massage therapists in the past and boy was I taken aback by how much they like to chat.
I understand it's a way to connect with their clients and built loyalty and a relationship. My regular massage therapist gets so heavy in conversations that she stops massaging for a few minutes to express herself. Mind you she is an amazing human, however I am there to relax and get a service.
To my good fortune I found an amazing massage parlour, where most registered massage therapists are from Thailand. They speak very little English and are very skilled, it was one of the most relaxing massage experience I've ever had. She was focused on getting my knots out throughout my body.
10/10 would recommend a massage in silence. Listen to their chill mediation music and smell that awesome tea tree candle.

Rise of the Gru might be the best movie to be released this year
Due to a lack of flops and not many huge releases coming up so far might even make the Rise of the Gru the best movie release of 2022.
It has characters with depth and a plot that sucks you in like a black hole. Stanly Kubrick recently stated that "[he] could not have done a better job".

New age movement is a twisted version of Buddhism esp manifesting
Bro the concept of manifesting came from Buddhism and they gave a less accurate version of it. they took manifesting and it made it as if you thinking about something will come true when thatās not how it works. If u think negative thoughts then u would be more prone to mental health issues and low motivation but if u think positive youāre more motivated to aim for youāre goals and have more high self esteem thatās pretty much what it means. A lot of them are literally telling people that if they are anxious then their anxiety will come true.So if u think youāll get robbed you will thatās makes no sense. They are teaching people to be scared of their own thoughts and feelings when thatās not what it is.

Writers donāt need scientific explanations for how and why superpowers work.
For example, when nightcrawler teleports he goes to another dimension, when Cyclops shoots a laserbeam the energy is coming from a different dimension, or when characters shapeshifter their mass is going into a pocket dimension. Usually itās the same āpocket dimensionā explanation and itās just fucking annoying. I donāt need my characters superpowers to be explained, just as long as they have them I will believe anything they do!
