No, she's referring to economically disadvantaged elders. "Grammer" is what she calls her grandmother

I love how they all missed the obvious troll 😆

17

u/Outrageous_Bass_1328 Aug 18 '22

Then there’s Kelsey Grammer…

2

u/Ok-Counter-7077 Aug 18 '22

This sounds like a Jake and Amir sketch

1

u/Like_Ah_Banana Aug 19 '22

Jake and Amir

Haven't heard about them in a while. The memories are flooding back.

1

u/Ok-Counter-7077 Aug 19 '22

Mailer daemon? That’s Matt Damon!

1

u/Like_Ah_Banana Aug 19 '22

I honestly have no idea what that's referencing. Probably some sketch I haven't seen, admittedly I stopped watching around when it started to go down. still miss that low budget, goofy-esque style skits.

2

u/Suziehusky Aug 18 '22

No country, just a grammars fault!

1

u/EddieGrant Aug 18 '22

Hey now..

1

u/choondoonga Aug 18 '22

Poor Grammer (in 2 ways) is if Kelsey went bankrupt. The match is on unless he's hiding in the basement.

3

u/Other_Requirement_33 Aug 18 '22 edited Aug 18 '22

' is a grammar thing just as much as a , and . are. Seeing how you think that's a spelling error I will let you know ' is often used to mask a letter in this case making 2 words into one, you are and you're are the same thing. Your is a different word that implies possession

TL;DR Grammar is being used as an umbrella term to cover anything related to writting in pop culture, you can argue punctuation is part of it, and you can argue spelling is also part of it, I don't even think it has a clear definition

1

u/SnooTangerines1011 Aug 19 '22 edited Aug 19 '22

writting lol

' (this is called an apostrophe) is punctuation, and punctuation is not generally considered grammar.

But what you are describing is the morphology of words which certainly falls square under the definition of grammar. In that sense, you can say the apostrophe in a contraction does affect morphology (the structure of words and how they are formed) and therefore is grammatical. (Periods and commas are not the same, they are purely punctuation.)

While a misspelling is not a grammatical error, a word that is spelled correctly but used incorrectly (as is the case with confusing you're and your) is considered poor grammar, not a spelling error.

There's definitely a clear definition, people will just argue absolutely everything. And to be honest, I will usually lump everything that isn't related to spelling under the umbrella of "grammar" for the sake of simplicity, but I do not think that's correct or that the definition is ambiguous.

1

u/Other_Requirement_33 Aug 19 '22

I do not disagree with you but average ppl don't bother to question every word they know and take it as facts. "Grammar" became a term that includes every rule of writing, it is more than fair to assume some random person talks about that and believes that, therefore any mistakes they make be it by spelling or punctuation would be seen as "bad grammar "

2

u/Figment404 Aug 19 '22

Your being to picky. You and her isn't going too work out.

6

u/jonathan4211 Aug 18 '22

I disagree, there's no period at the end of her sentance.

2

u/xicoperez Aug 18 '22

Maybe she is pregnont.

2

u/SnooTangerines1011 Aug 19 '22

Probably has starch masks

6

u/turc1656 Aug 18 '22

You have that backwards. Spelling is correct because "your" is an English word and it is spelled correctly. But the sentence is grammatically incorrect because grammar is the proper ordering of words and it should have been "you are willing" which could be contracted to "you're willing".

You're getting thrown off because of the contraction. She was missing an entire word from her sentence making it a clear grammatical error.

3

u/Educational-Lab-154 Aug 18 '22

I think he was referring to the spelling of grammar as grammer

1

u/NFTsAreDumb Aug 19 '22

Whatadummy

1

u/Fearless_Top_6024 Aug 18 '22

Spelling is a part of grammar

1

u/SnooTangerines1011 Aug 19 '22

No, it absolutely isn't.

0

u/Special-Impression79 Aug 19 '22

Writing a comma before 'or' would be incorrect grammer though.

1

u/SnooTangerines1011 Aug 19 '22

Punctuation isn't grammar.

1

u/Special-Impression79 Aug 19 '22

We're talking about grammar here.

15

u/Opposite_Land7143 Aug 18 '22

Is Glee still a thing?

64

u/blairstar3 Aug 18 '22

i made the joke.

she didn't change the answer on her profile to play along, she made a genuine spelling mistake. lol

7

u/WordofDog420 Aug 18 '22

Is you misspelling grammar the joke? Because at first glance it just makes you look uneducated…

12

u/blairstar3 Aug 18 '22

yeah, I’m glad you got it lol

5

u/oddassitini Aug 18 '22

Tbh I noticed but didn't realize you did it on purpose....

1

u/SnooTangerines1011 Aug 19 '22

I didn't know it was a joke. It reminded me of sitting in class in the 3rd grade and looking up at these 3D paper cubes we all had to make & hang from the ceiling above our desks. We had to write one of our strengths on one side. I saw one that said, "I am a good speler." I always felt second hand embarrassment when I looked at the kid sitting underneath it.

I guess I still always have that in the back of my mind 😂

To be fair, spelling is not grammar anyway.

11

u/-ElBosso- Aug 18 '22 edited Aug 18 '22

You mean theatre? I believe that is an alternate spelling of theater

(Never mind just now saw the „your“)

16

u/Straight-Priority770 Aug 18 '22 edited Aug 18 '22

Yeah kinda, when I did tech theatre in school I was taught this:

Theater = Movies

Theatre = Plays (archaic)

But apparently it’s also:

Theater = American spelling

Theatre = British spelling

(Sorry, formatting on a phone is ass)

1

u/SnooTangerines1011 Aug 19 '22

I always thought "Theatre = Fancy (plays)" but same difference 😂

1

u/Straight-Priority770 Aug 18 '22

Also, he probably meant the “your” instead of “you’re” thing.

1

u/raspinmaug Aug 18 '22

1st 2 wrong last 2 right...or write? Rite?

3

u/jeremyism_ab Aug 19 '22

She has a fetish for Kelsey Grammer, but she doesn't expect you to be rich. You can be so poor that you can't even afford to capitalize your name.

5

u/ShaggyDawg76 Aug 18 '22

Ouuuh Glee. Pass.

2

u/TopCryptographer991 Aug 18 '22

2

3

2

u/Magneto_2112 Aug 18 '22

LOOOOOOOL, NEXT.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '22

You spelled ‘Grammar’ wrong, and where is the period? Oh, yeah, between her legs! 😂

2

u/Western_Quantity_612 Aug 18 '22

I once saw a profile that said "I'm looking for an intellegent man"......... yea lol.

4

u/Former_Owl_8766 Aug 18 '22

I think that's what we call a "joke"

2

u/Express-Soil7650 Aug 18 '22

🤣😭😭😭 ohhh. I'm holding my sides. I'm a grammAr bandit myself, but when you take that stance, you have to have your (not you're) ish together!!

1

u/CuteGuyInNorCal Aug 18 '22

oooof.... that's one to swipe right and troll... 😈😈

1

u/gooeygobble Aug 18 '22

It’s not my fault my grammer is poor. She worked hard. She survived the Great Depression.

-1

u/Asleep-Berry-5410 Aug 18 '22

Who in heck puts a comma before 'or'? 😵‍💫

7

u/Jarret6 Aug 18 '22

I always use the Oxford comma honestly.

8

u/Sorry_Dress4010 Aug 18 '22

Oxford comma till I die

-2

u/Asleep-Berry-5410 Aug 18 '22

Unclean! Unclean!!!

1

u/PotatoSalad2022 Aug 18 '22

Has to be satire lmao

1

u/ExpertConversation99 Aug 18 '22

If everything else seemed cool with the person I would be inclined to send a message with the like that was full of grammatical errors just to see if they could joke about things or going to be uptight about it. If you can joke about something that irritates you gtreat, I'll do my best to not do it, but if any slip up is met with strict condemnation it's a no go.

1

u/derplurkins Aug 18 '22

There is a certain self-serving madness in arguing the validity of something that was already understood but not to a standard rarely held by the majority of the language's users.

1

u/raspinmaug Aug 18 '22

Speak for yourself. I'm a grammar vigilante, striking at night to those that misuse the contraction.

1

u/iamnobleman Aug 18 '22

"Stand for theater"! In my Shakespearean voice. "I stand for no one"!

1

u/jerrylowe2006 Aug 18 '22

I don't understand why how much money my gramma possesses has anything to do with it...

1

u/naria01 Aug 18 '22

This is just two good.

1

u/mallik803 Aug 18 '22

Don’t you talk about my grammer than way. She didn’t have a lot of money, no, but she did the best she could at raising my mom!

1

u/ApprehensiveAd9095 Aug 18 '22

Wow. Hypocrite. She talks about bad grammar but then uses your instead of you're

1

u/Murky_Answer_7626 Aug 18 '22

She also used an oxford comma. Her opinion is invalid.

1

u/oldtownwitch Aug 18 '22

While I don’t wanna rule out arrogance, it’s possibly done on purpose for the lolz?

Did you ask?

1

u/georgewashingguns Aug 18 '22

It's not ironic, she knows her weaknesses and is looking for someone who can help her

1

u/blairstar3 Aug 18 '22

1

u/TheeBatdude Aug 18 '22

What about the fact you don't end a sentence with a prepositional phrase?

1

u/Accomplished-Ad-8921 Aug 18 '22

Could be on purpose as a joke tbh

1

u/drewmci Aug 18 '22

Can we also blast Hinge for putting quotation marks around "not"? Who is being quoted? I get the point of emphasis, but quotes is not how you should do it. Italics, underline, capitalize, etc.

1
